Mella Wendle

In Auschwitz I worked carrying heavy wooden pallets of fertilizer and gravel back and forth and back and forth in the freezing winter and hot summer. Each day we were fed only a small amount of bread and watered down soup made of weeds. Standing naked I went through many ‰selections when it was decided if I was fit to continue work or would be sent to the gas chambers.
It felt as though my life was always hanging on a thin line.
